Nruthya Chandra,Taruna shresta kalakar Shri.Badari Divya Bhushan H. B. Badari Divya Bhushan, a person with an unusual name and a colorful persona, hails from the princely city of Mysore. Born to Mr. H. V. Balaji, a Commerce professor and Mrs. Padma, a carnatic vocalist, Badari considers himself lucky to be born in a culturally rich family. Incidentally, he also happens to be the grandson of yester year’s glamour star of Kannada and Tamil cinema Sri. Kalyan Kumar. Gifted with incredible talent and a vast flair for Indian art and culture, dance and art come naturally to Bhushan, as he is fondly called. Bhushan started learning the divine art form of “Bharatanatyam” from the tender of 3 under the tutelage of Mrs. Vyjayantimala Bali, a renowned personality in the field of dance. He continued his lessons in Bharatanatyam under Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy, who herself is a pioneer in the aesthetic and rigorous Pandanallur style. From then on there has been no looking back and today dance has become an earnest passion to Bhushan. He is now an established Bharatanatyam artiste and an eminent guru himself. Bhushan has completed his Vidwat grade exam in Bharatanatyam conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Education Board, with a distinction and has secured First rank in the same. He is also the proud recipient of the central Government of India scholarship for dance from the year 2002 to 2004. Having performed in several prestigious National Festivals and Sabhas all over the country, Bhushan has left his audiences awe struck and has received widespread acclaim and appreciation for his immense talent. Bestowed with a handsome physique and vibrant persona, Bhushan has successfully donned several historic and mythological characters gracefully and aesthetically. He holds the credit of choreographing some of the unique pieces like “Ambience Kalyani” and “Maha Ganapathim” which have in them glimpses of almost all the south Indian dance forms. His presentations have gained widespread popularity for the incredible choreography, elaborate and Colorful costumes, and totally out of the world, heavenly, make up. Highly talented, Bhushan holds the credit for designing costumes, for all his presentations. A versatile and creative choreographer, Bhushan gives immense importance to vigor, precision and co-ordination, be it classical or contemporary presentations. Further, Bhushan is blessed with an excellent voice which adds to his list of talents. He is an extremely good comparer and a versatile singer too. He has also undergone training in veena and has successfully completed his senior grade examination both in Music and veena. Bhushan has performed in several prestigious festivals and several dance ballets all over India and abroad. To name few, Natarajotsava, Pallavotsava, ANKURA 2002, Badami festival, Pattadakal festival, Gwalior Ballet Mahotsav, Madras music and dance academy, Natyanjali (Chidambaram, Tanjore Nagapatnam ,Kumbhakonam, Thirunallar,), , Mysore Dasara festival, Hampi festival , Mahamastakabhishek Mahotasav & Lakshadeepotsav (Dharmastala). Talkad Mahotsav, Falls festival, Vyshaki Nrityotasav, EFCEP-ICCR etc. He has been featured in several talk shows, interviews & Programs on many TV Channels and is quite a well known name! He is also one of the distinguished examiners for the Senior and Vidwat Anthima dance exams conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Education Board. Bhushans’ have conducted numerous workshops on “Aesthetics of Abhinaya”, “Analytical Adavus”, “Asthanayikas”, “Nava Rasa”..etc. In-fact they hold the credit for conceptualizing a unique Practice Adavu cd “Bhartanatyam Adavus” to help dance students to practice all adavus in 3 speeds at home . They have choreographed, devised, directed, conceptualized & scripted, a dance show “Nruthya Bhushana” for Sri Shankara channel. Bhushan is a fashion designer by profession. Academically he holds B. F. D degree (Fashion designing and Fashion Arts) from NIFT (Delhi) and M. F. D from Design School, Bangalore. He is a very well known name in the field of fashion and is the back bone for his dream venture “Designers galore” which is an outlet to his creations. He is also the youngest recipient of “Designer of the Year, 97” award bestowed on him by “Shoppers Stop” Bangalore. Having worked with many top models and actresses of the country, he is a very versatile choreographer to many of his Designer shows like Monsoon, 98, Rugs and Riches, 96, transition 2003, seasons, 2002, ethnic, funky futuristic 2005 etc. He owns a label of his own (BHUSHAN’S ORIGINALS). His creations can be spotted at topmost fashion outlets in India like Shoppers Stop, ENSEMBLE, FOLIO and BENZER. Bhushan has a vast flair to learn and experiment with colors and is known for creativity, precision and neatness. Nruthya Chandrika, Taruna yuva shreshta kalakar Smt.Anjana Bhushan Anjana, a virtual blend of talent, beauty and intellect is a trained exponent of Bharatanatyam in the Vazhuvoor style under the tutelage of guru Smt. Padmini Ravi, a name well known in the field of Bharatanatyam. Anjana is the daughter of Sri. B. N. Rama Prasad and Smt. K.S. Nagamani, great patrons of art and culture, who have nourished Anjana’s dreams into reality with their constant support towards her education and art. Anjana performed her arangetram in 1996, with the blessings of her guru Smt Padmini Ravi and since then, there has been no looking back for her. Her joy knew no bounds when her dream of getting married to a dancer came true through Badari Divya Bhushan, who eventually became her husband and her next guru. Anjana’s pretty stature, aesthetic abhinaya, crisp nritta, profound angashuddha and her precise rhythm sense, create an everlasting impression in the minds and hearts of the audience. Academically Anjana holds a Masters degree in “Speech and Hearing” from “All India Institute of Speech and Hearing”, Mysore and is currently a research scholar, working towards her doctorate in the field of “Stuttering” Badari Divya Bhushan, an accomplished dancer, a versatile choreographer, an epitome of creative expertise, who always tries to create something new and unique, has always helped Anjana to explore her talent and bring out her best in the divine art form of Bharatanatyam. In fact, the journey started from their wedding, amidst lots of well wishers, Bharatanatyam exponents and connoisseurs of art, being witness to a rare and historical phenomenon wherein they performed a Bharatanatyam recital before their traditional wedding and exchanged the garlands while enacting out Saint Tyagaraja’s composition “Seeta Kalyana vybhogame” where Lord Rama gets married to Sita. With this great start, there has been no looking back for Anjana and Bhushan in their endeavors. Dance to them is devotion and assumes a very prime position in their lives. Both Bhushan and Anjana impart the knowledge of the divine art form of Bharatanatyam to several aspiring students and give them ample opportunity to exhibit their talent and get noticed in various group & solo presentations which is very rare in the present day scenario. The academy’s main motto is to spread the art to the new generation and help the younger crowd develop a liking towards the divine Indian art and culture. in-fact, they are one of the leading couple dancers of India from Mysore, who keep Bharatanatyam as base and produce many fabulous contemporary pieces for presentation. Academy productions are manifestations of thought provoking, mythological as well as contemporary themes, wherein each piece is a vibrant scintillating presentation filled with energy and symmetry. Their contemporary productions involve a beautiful blend of Yoga and Bharatanatyam in true co-ordinance. The academy’s proud students have graduated themselves from being stark beginners to able performers under the guidance of their eminent gurus, Sri. Badari Divya Bhushan and Smt. Anjana Bhushan.
